Kvalvika Beach

Locations

Kvalvika Beach, Moskenesøy, Lofoten Islands

It took two attempts to finally reach this beach in a frorty, rainy April. The first attempt to get there via the mountain Ryten was abrupted by dense fog and a general lack of a clear path through the snow. The second attempt while shorter was at the very least successful. However heavy storm clouds shortened the willingness to stay for as long as I would have liked. Nevertheless I was still able to get a short video snippet and a few photos before the weather turned. I can’t wait to go back (when there is less snow).

Kvalvika Beach

Getting There

After passing Fredvang there is a small parking lot with room for 4-5 cars on the left-hand side of the 986 road.  Generally there are small wooden signposts along the road for both Ryten and Kvalvika. Further along the road there’s a larger parking area for a hike taking you straight to Kvalvika Beach – however if you have time and the weather permitting the loop hike up to Ryten and then down to the beach and back is the fullest experience.
